Asian Gay Films Dig Deeper on Prostitution |
Vancouver International Film Festival, which kicked off last September, is hosting a bigger sum of gay-oriented films this year coming from countries in Asia as part of the Dragons and Tigers programme. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities are now gaining momentum in that specific continent and it is somewhat given that queer-interest films will be seen more and a lot more media representations of homosexual lifestyle will be emerging in the movie scene. This year, prostitution has become a trending format for the film fest's three out of four Asian gay directed indie films. The only exception is Japan's "Our Future" which tackles about a tomboy-gestured girl who got bullied at her school for being on the masculine side.
As an example, the Philippines sent in Se?±orita, a suspense-thriller-drama rolled into one, focused around an ex-prostitute transgender woman who was asked by her friend to look after a son in the province but was caught up in a web of a politician's dirty tactics during a reelection. Although the kinky sex business was a bit glamorized and sugar-coated in most films, two of the gay movies kept affixed on the consequences and complications of working in the sex trade business; such as the first ever gay based Vietnamese film, Lost in Paradise, which depicted the gay life in Ho Chi Minh City where a handsome young boy named Khoi moves in to the city and was taken advantage by two gay con-men but the twist comes along when the other con fell in-love with him. South Korea presented a heaven versus earth type of story where one of the gay men is filthy rich while the other one, as poor as a rat, but both living sad lives. The poor one, Jun, is an illegal North Korean immigrant who would try everything to earn money, even working for a very mean gas station owner ended up a sex seller out of desperation. The rich one, Hyeon, lives in an exclusive condo (as a gift to him from his "sugar daddy"), penetrated prostitution to rebel and feel excitement.
Although these films are not speaking in general, these gay Asian movies are not for all types of audiences. They are merely drawing what may and can be seen in the combination of money making and playing with fire.

GLAAD to Fox and HBO The Most Gay-Friendly Networks on Television |
Good news! Good news, ladies and germs! Fox and HBO are the leading broadcast and cable networks with the most gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender characters on television. The "Where We Are on TV" reports today that the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) sends its gratitude towards the two giant networks for showcasing LGBT. A survey shows that there's at least 2.9 percent of LGBT scripts for their regular series. Surprisingly, cable TV has fewer representations. There is a total of 29 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender characters on mainstream cable networks (2011), however, recent year's totality was about 40, specifically in 2008, and GLAAD has counted 25 recurring characters on cable. The very gay-friendly show, Glee, leads the way with a 6.8 percentage on its casts being an LGBT. It is a huge advancement from Fox's zero gay characters in previous years. HBO, on the other hand, has garnered the 'most' gay-friendly television series, True Blood.
A lot of people are now opening up, evolving, and clarifying their thoughts regarding LGBT characters, these casts are becoming more and more significant, and of course, more and more shallow heads are also protesting about morality and religion. They say that HBO and Fox networks are now working for the devil, hence the gay characters. Trying to ban our pink brothers and sisters and making a big deal out of the series. There is virtually no nudity when these characters come up. It's not like they are showing juicy thick big cocks, right? And speaking of those big thick long throbbing dicks, I have come to a conclusion that a lot of heterosexual conservatives are terrified of gay men because of their big cocks. I mean, just an enormous cum oozing dick banging an anus that just gets ripped apart because of the diameter of the cock's head, not counting the length of the shaft yet. Some may like short cutesy penises, but most of us are into the meaty ones. What would be so hot about a tiny penis? The bigger the better, the meatier the happier, it's that simple! Big cocks can indulge our fantasies and imagination, the secret porn star in us. Men like making their partners happy and giving the most is one of the things that can make people happy, so a big cock means huge big happiness, that's how it should be. Enough of the judgmental conservative people who scrutinize every single thing seen on the telly and just move on like how the world surrounding them is moving on to a brighter future of diversity. Let's celebrate HBO and Fox's LGBT endeavor on their respective television networks.
